ICC Test Rankings: R Ashwin is new No.5 all-rounder, Rishabh Pant achieves career-best position

After an exciting 2nd Test between India and England came to end, the man of the hour, Ravichandran Ashwin made notable gains in the ICC Test Player Rankings. India had a massive 317-run victory that levelled the four-match series 1-1.

Ashwin‘s second-innings century at his home ground lifted him 14 places to 81st in the list of batsmen and in the bowler’s list he continues to remain at the seventh position. However, in the all-rounder list, he climbed up a spot and is now at the fifth spot with 336 points.

India opener Rohit Sharma’s first innings score of 161 has helped him gain nine places to reach the 14th position. The Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper’s career-best position was attained in October 2019, when he was ranked 10th.

Even wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant too made progress with his 58 not out in the first innings. He is now at a career-best 11th position. Left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav returns in 50th position while left-arm spinner Axar Patel has entered the rankings in 68th place. 

As for England players, left-arm spinner Jack Leach gained six places to reach 31st position at a career-best 524 points. Star all-rounder Ben Stokes has lost his top position among all-rounders and is now on the third spot behind Ravindra Jadeja.
