Premier League Matchday 25 Round-Up: City Holds Fort While United A Distant Second, Liverpool Shocked In Merseyside Derby

Man United vs Newcastle game in the Premier League on Sunday was a one-sided affair as expected. Marcus Rashford scored the opening goal in the 30th minute which was followed by two goals by Daniel James and a penalty by Bruno Fernandes. United scored three goals and conceded only one against Steve Bruce’s side. Even after the 3-1 win over Newcastle, United are 10 points off the top of the table where Manchester City is sitting comfortably since a long time. They also defeated Arsenal in a 0-1 away win. Troubles increase for the gunners as they slip on to the 10th spot in the league table.

In the Merseyside Derby, Liverpool faced a shocking home defeat against Everton. Everton scored two goals courtesy Richarlison’s early goal and Sigurdsson’s 83rd minute penalty. Things are going downward for Jurgen Klopp’s side since their FA Cup exit against Manchester United in January. The injury concerns are seem to be hitting Liverpool’s chances and now the Champions are at a stage where they are struggling to be in the Top-4.

In other fixtures, West Ham defeated Tottenham in a home game by 2-1 and entered in the Top 4. Antonio and Jesse Lingard scored the two goals for West Ham. Spurs tried to bounce back when Lucas scored in the 64th minute but failed to capitalize on the goal. Southampton restricted Chelsea to a 1-1 draw in their home game. Wolves and Fullham also registered 1-0 victories against Leeds and Sheffield respectively.

Premier League looks one sided so far as City hold a ten point lead which is significant as their form also continues to blossom under Pep Guardiola. But anything can happen in football. We will have to wait till May to crown a champion for the Premier League 2020-21.
